When a sensor detects moisture from a water leak, the FloodStopper System instantly, and automatically, shuts off the water supply. The System emits a visual and/or an audible alarm to alert family members to the shut-off and displays the location of the problem. As an option, it can also contact a monitored security alarm service. A similar system is being developed to monitor a home's natural gas supply.

FloodStopper sensors are placed on the floor throughout the home wherever leaks may occur -- such as under water heaters, bathrooms, sinks, washing machines, and furnaces -- and are either wired or wirelessly connected to the System's control panel.
