The $199 Basis fitness band just got a firmware update, and can now automatically detect when you’re moving and calculate the burned calories. The Basic knows when you’re walking, running or biking without you having to press a button or enable some sort of activity mode. Additionally, it knows when you’re asleep.
Once data is collected, you can analyze it using either the web console or one of the company’s mobile apps (the Basis band already tracks vitals like sweat output, heat dissipation, blood flow and heart rate). Additionally, Basis has also added running and bicycling clubs, to help you get into the habit of doing these things more often.
If you already have a Basis B1 Band, you can download the new software update over USB.
