Video Game releases in July

July 2014

Sniper Elite 3, the latest installment in the Sniper Elite series will be releasing on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360 in Europe no later than June 27th. North American players will need to wait until the 1st of July to get their hands on the newest first-person shooter that will take you to the exotic terrain of North Africa during World War II. Pre-purchasing the game will reward you with a free DLC Mission, namely Hunt the Grey Wolf.

Surely you remember the Metro series. Both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light have been revamped for this special summer release. The Metro 2033 Redux will be running the 4A Engine which was used for Metro: Last Light. What does that mean? It means that the game which was released in 2010 will now look even better! Advanced lightning, dynamic weather, higher detailed characters with improved animations, improved smoke, fire and particle effects and much more. Since Metro: Last Light was already built with this engine, the graphics cannot get any better but it has still received an update for Metro: Last Light Redux. The Redux version will also include all the previously released DLC’s for Metro: Last Light. Players that already own the Metro series on Steam will get a discount to upgrade the games.

Gravity Crash Ultra is a remastered version of the stellar PlayStation Network shooter Gravity Crash and will be coming to the PlayStation Vita this month.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! is yet another remastered version that will see the light in July. The sidescrolling puzzle platformer is a revamped version of the 1997’s Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. As of 23 July, players from NA and EU can get their hands on the newest version on the PlayStation Network. It will be available for PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3 and 4. The release date for PC, OS X, Linux, Wii U and Xbox One still need to be announced but it is rumored to be somewhere in 2014.

A game that should be remembered for its cheesy tagline “The Cheesiest Game Ever” is certainly MouseCraft. The game has been available on Steam as an Early Access Game since early November 2013 but it will launch on PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PC, Mac and Linux on 8th of July, world-wide. MouseCraft is, according to the developers, a cross-over between Tetris and Lemmings. The goal of the game is to help mice get to the cheese by using the Tetrominos blocks.

Unrest, an adventure RPG set in ancient India, will be releasing on PC on July 23rd.

One Piece Unlimited World Red will be launching in Europe and Australia on June 27th but those in America will need to wait a few more days to get their hands on a copy. The game will only be available for PS Vita, PS3, Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U.

Another title American citizens will need to wait for is Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn. Those situated in Europe and Australia will be able to get it on June 27 but the game will not launch in the US until July 1st for the PlayStation 3.

Every month games are being released on Steam as Early Access Games. In July, at least eight games are being released as Early Access. You may want to check out the following games: Sunless Sea, Over 9000 Zombies!, The Red Solstice, The Escapists published by Team17, DieselStormers and Adventurezator: When Pigs Fly. Yet another Minecraft-inspired game will pop up, namely the free to play zombie survival game Unturned. Darkwood will also be released as an Early Access Game with a survival horror theme but it seems to set itself apart from all those other games that keep popping up by doing it RPG-style.

Of course there will be more indie games releasing on Steam and other platforms. I will certainly be keeping an eye out for DieselStormer but which ones are you looking forward to?
